Teshuvah 2017 – Begins Today!

We are entering that season again…time for teshuvah! This teshuvah 2017 opened with a grand ceremony…the total eclipse of the sun!

Did you get to see it? Where did you experience the eclipse and how would you describe it?

We took the opportunity to show our daughter God’s awesome creation and perfect timing.

We then watched images of the eclipse on the news as some places experienced up to 2 minutes and 40 seconds of darkness. It was as if a sunset and sunrise collided. The reporters broadcasting were informing everyone that the next total solar eclipse will be in the year 2024…7 years from now. Hmmm…there are definitely some amazing God mathematics going on here!

Teshuvah is a 40 Day period of repentance that leads up to the Feast of Trumpets and the Day of Atonement. This year, it begins (today) on August 21, 2017. Everyday, Psalm 27 and Ezekiel 33:1-7 is read as a way to remind us to repent of any sins we have committed against God and others, to seek the Lord, and to tell others about God.

Also during this time, the shofar is blown every day except Shabbat (Saturday – the day of rest) and the day before the Feast of Trumpets. I have used a shofar app called, The Mighty Shofar, to sound the trumpet as well as my own personal shofars! I invite you to join us as we return back to God and seek Him with all our hearts.
